Dr. Deron V. Sharpe was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in bio-chemistry, 1994. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia School of Medicine, 1998.
Dr. Sharpe completed a Pediatric Residency program at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri in June, 2000. Afterward, he completed a three-year Child Neurology Residency program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee followed by a Neuromuscular Neurology Fellowship also at Vanderbilt.
Dr. Sharpe is certified in child neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He joined Dothan Pediatric Healthcare Network specializing in Child Neurology at The Westgate Center in January, 2015.
His clinical interests include: the management of tone modifying therapies for cerebral palsy and the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, myotonias, spinal cerebellar ataxias, and periodic paralyses.
Dr. Sharpe resides in Dothan with his wife and three children. He enjoys fitness, softball, home improvement, and gardening.
